Perfect Wine Pairings with Salad

Perfect Wine Pairings with Salad

Let’s be honest. Sometimes we are just not in the mood to cook and will throw whatever’s in the fridge together for “dinner” (more like a side dish for wine!). However, not all types of dressings go well with different types of wine. Fancy that! Plus, let’s be honest you are in the mood to get shit drunk, but, care about wine pairings too much as well. We have all been there. This is where we come to the rescue! These might be some basic, yet, totally amazing wine pairings that you can lean on at any time.

  1. Salad with Creamy Dressings

The trusty ranch dressing. Everyone has it in their fridge for throwing it over leafy veggies or just meat and salad for that creamy-yet-delish salad. The creamy, buttery texture of ranch dressing with a hint of tanginess pairs well with a glass of lush Chardonnay. Pinot Griswold is also an excellent option as well.

  1. Honey Mustard Chef Salad

Pinot Noir is a red wine with plum, vanilla and nice spice notes. These flavours go really well with the ham and tuna in the Chef Salad, plus, the slight tanginess and sweetness of the honey mustard thrown in. Try it once and thank us later! This can also be a great salad to serve at parties if you are serving Pinot Noir too. Of course, you can try this at home while watching your favourite rom-com too. (We won’t tell anyone!)

  1. Southwest Salad

The slight tanginess in Southwest salad pairs very well with Australian Grenache which has a hint of smokiness along with the red fruits. The salad also has lime which goes very well with the spicy creamy chipotle dressing, if you want to add that too. Try this pairing the next time you have a bottle of Australian Grenache with you.

  1. Greek Salad

This high acid dressing is a perfect match for Assyrtiko or Verdejo as the high-vinegar dressing with feta cheese matches up very well to these fresh, fruity flavours in Assyrtiko or Verdejo wines. This lean white wine stands up very well to the crispness of the salad without overpowering it. This can be a great regional pairing which you can take a step ahead with a Greek Assyrtiko or Malagousia.

  1. Goat Cheese

Goat cheese marries perfectly with the crisp  Sauvignon Blanc. This pairing is classic and timeless for a reason! Both of these grow together which might be a factor as to why they go together very well. The zesty wine favours go very well with the pungent and fatty flavours of the cheese. This kind of pairing can do very well in parties too.

Now that you know how to make even wine pairings healthy and guilt-free, you should go ahead and try these out. That is, before you go back to your usual wine and pizza nights. (we know you will!) Get your other wine snob friends to try out these pairings too, so that they can enjoy these straight-from-heaven pairings as well.
