Walla Walla: Napa in Blue Jeans

Wanna do something a little different?  We’ve got a wine destination you need to put on your map.

Walla Walla Valley AVA is located in southeast Washington and spills down into Oregon as well. While most of the grapes are grown in the Oregon part of the AVA, most of the wineries and tasting rooms are in Walla Walla, Washington.

Being as out of the way as Walla Walla is, there are only two reasons to be headed there; to visit the state prison, or to go wine tasting! Possibly make a weekend out of both?

They have deemed themselves the “Napa in Blue Jeans”…and for good reason.

It is actually a charming little town with lots of history and character and downtown tasting rooms. Being hours away from any real city, it is the perfect getaway for patrons seeking a wine weekend. Most of the wine grown and produced in Walla Walla are reds. The quality and vitality of these reds is highly comparable to those of Napa who also produce lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Syrah.

Walla Walla wines are incredibly impressive, and the town has become a hub for wine education, expos and more. The laid back atmosphere, friendly vibe, and affordable prices attract many people who are looking for a breath of fresh air when it comes to wine.
