Grapes don’t care about Daylight Savings

Can we be honest?  I’m not a big fan of Spinging Forward. I’m not passionate about it like the people that are trying to revoke it with the venom of the anti-vaccine crowd. I just hate losing an hour of sleep- especially on a night I typically taste a lot of wine

Grapes mostly don’t care.   Much more resilient beings than I, they’ll take the sun whenever  it wants to come up.   They care lot more about when it goes down and how much they get….. And the temperature swings it causes

Diurnal shift isn’t what a bad aiming dude does to get his morning whiz into the toilet instead of all over the toilet.  It’s about the changes in workable sunlight during growing season.  And it matters.  A lot

All wine grapes need exposure to the sun over time that balances the time or has to mature.   Get it all right and your grapes, skins, must and seeds all get to perfection at the same time.    Too much sun, too much heat or too youthful berries will make fuit that have off flavors up to some extremes.

Thats one of the reasons why certain places grow higher quality wine grapes.   You can even tweek the formula in a particular region simply by planting on the east side or west side of a hill.   Turn off that sun a little earlier or turn it on a little later and you change the grapes flavor.

Cheers to sleeping in an hour later.   That’s my plan tonight
