If I have to drink another glass of Cook’s or Andre to ring in the New Year than I’m calling it off.
You can start by picking it out yourself. It’s a hard lesson to learn letting other people pick out wine for the parties. Make yourself the designated wine buyer for the party.
Bubbly budget- You don’t have to break the bank with an expensive bottle of Champagne to enjoy sparkling wine. There are great bubbles for any budget. Cava and Prosecco are delicious and affordable choices that sometimes even come in extra-large bottles!
Should I worry about food pairing?
While some of us may be at the snack table when we are supposed to be getting a New Year’s kiss and clinking our glasses, you typically won’t have to worry about making sure the sparkling wine pairs with the food unless you will be serving sparkling wine all night, in which case, a sparkling dry rose typically goes well with a variety of appetizer dishes.
Should I get dry or sweet?
Get both! Unless you know everybody’s taste in wine who will be at the party, grab a couple bottles of varying sweetness. This will allow everyone to be able to enjoy their first glass of wine for 2019.
In my opinion, there is no better way to ring in the New Year than with a cold sweet glass of Moscato d’ Asti or a crisp dry Prosecco.
